This is an interesting shift in strategy for Muji, who typically favors anonymity in both their products and their designers, Tetracycline from mexico. My Tetracycline experience, Anonymity is their true strategic differentiation over other design-focused companies. By naming Irvine and Grcic outright, Tetracycline no prescription, Buy cheap Tetracycline no rx, they acknowledge that their "no brand" is a powerful icon, but it comes at the expense of their key differentiator, is Tetracycline safe. Order Tetracycline from mexican pharmacy, A large part of Muji's global audience is designers and design connoiseurs, so these pieces of furniture may bring a level of credibility to Muji's furniture offering and open them up to doing more of it (with nice margins, Tetracycline interactions, Tetracycline for sale, probably). On the other hand, this fickle audience could reject these products and claim that Muji is selling out, Tetracycline Mg. To be successful, buying Tetracycline online over the counter, Tetracycline without a prescription, Muji will need to balance their new transparency while retaining the core equity of their brand.

Muji isn't the first to grow it's brand in this way, order Tetracycline no prescription. Tetracycline recreational, IKEA has taken a similar approach with their PS line, creating higher end products through higher end designers, get Tetracycline. Online buy Tetracycline without a prescription, The work is beautiful, but I think consumers will be skeptical that IKEA can produce these higher priced items at an equally higher quality. Muji, on the other hand, could have more success with their strategy. Unlike IKEA, they've never been known for their low cost position. Price was merely a feature of their "no brand" execution. By choosing designers like Grcic, who respect utility and anonymous beauty, they can grow this part of their business and stay true to the vision that brought them here.

  1. You’re right that it’s curious that they’ve chosen to name the designers here, as in the past Grcic (and others such as Jasper Morrison, Enzo Mari and Sam Hecht) has designed products for Muji anonymously. Though I’ve never really bought their “no brand” schtick. Merely leaving labels off of things and, in general, anonymising your designers doesn’t mean that your company isn’t a brand with values just as deeply rooted as those of, say, Cassina or Vitra.

  3. Andrew – I agree that their brand is a very strong one. Their approach is fairly unique in keeping details like designers anonymous. To some, I think this may be inauthentic, while to others, it’s a refreshing, extreme version of minimalism that goes beyond the look of the products into many other facets of the brand.

  7. I’ve come back to this blog post as I was reminded of it when I read about Philippe Strack’s attempt at an anti-fashion/trend/brand cashmere clothing.

I find the whole project very baffling, but anyway, that’s Starck, at least it got me thinking…

I agree with Andrew, and I wonder, is it even possible to be an anti-brand once you label your self anti-brand? It’s all highly ironic.

I like to look at it as a romantic reflection of our time. While sustainability is the way forward and we’re told to watch our consumption, we’re also encouraged to consume to keep the economy-fire burning. What a mix-up, so lets just label it, but then tell them it’s not labelled, and sell it.
